About the Urantia Cosmos Atlas β
An enormous universe. An extraordinary book. Two adventures. And a perfectly reasonable question: Where on Earth do we begin?
Imagine someone handing you a book containing more than 2,000 pages and explaining that it explores God, the universe, intelligent life beyond Earth, human history, spiritual destiny, and the life of Jesus.
"Oh, wonderful," you reply. "I'll just clear my afternoon."
Welcome to The Urantia Book.
And welcome to the Urantia Cosmos Atlas.
Why This Website Exists β
The Atlas began with a simple idea:
What if exploring The Urantia Book felt less like studying an encyclopedia and more like setting off on an extraordinary adventure?
A journey filled with mystery, discovery, fascinating personalities, difficult questions, and occasional moments of absolute cosmic absurdity.
A journey that makes you curious about what lies around the next corner.
That's what we're building here.
Not another obligation to study.
An invitation to explore.
Our guiding values are Truth, Beauty, Goodness, and HUMOUR.
Because even the grandest questions in existence deserve an occasional smile.
Two Doors Into an Extraordinary Universe β
We've organized the main storytelling experience into two independent journeys.
π The Cosmic Adventure β
Seven introductory stages take readers through the extraordinary universe described in The Urantia Book.
You'll encounter celestial personalities, inhabited worlds, universe headquarters, rebellion, human history, and questions about freedom, responsibility, and our place in creation.
And you'll meet Tyrion, our occasionally bewildered celestial canine companion, whose primary concern is whether the universe has a sensible administrative structure.
Spoiler: There appears to be quite a lot of paperwork.
Begin the Cosmic Adventure β
β¦ The Jesus Story β
Our second journey brings the extraordinary cosmic narrative down to Earth.
We follow Jesus of Nazareth as The Urantia Book portrays him: a curious child, a loving son, a thoughtful young man, and eventually a remarkable teacher.
Before the sermons and public ministry, there are family disagreements, childhood discoveries, responsibilities, friendships, disappointments, and the ordinary experiences of growing up.
You'll meet the human Jesus before exploring the extraordinary identity the book attributes to him.
Wonder Is Welcome. Questions Are Encouraged. β
The Atlas isn't asking you to believe everything you encounter.
The Urantia Book makes extraordinary claims. Some concern spiritual realities and philosophical questions. Others involve history, science, and events that can be examined against independent evidence.
We distinguish what the book says from what can be independently established.
And when an answer remains uncertain, we say so.
Beyond our two storytelling adventures, visitors can explore questions and discoveries, logical investigations, and evidence reviews.
These resources are available for those who want to dig deeper.
They're not homework.
There will be no final examination.
Tyrion has already eaten the answer sheet.
Who's Behind the Atlas? β
The Atlas was founded and is edited by Rob Savarie, a Canadian driving instructor, philosophy graduate, and reader of The Urantia Book since 1992.
It is a human-directed, AI-assisted project. ChatGPT contributes to writing, research assistance, illustrations, and technical development, under human editorial direction. AI assistance does not guarantee factual accuracy or replace independent verification.
The Atlas is an independent project, not an official publication of Urantia Foundation or the Urantia Book Fellowship.
And Tyrion?
He's a real, fluffy little dog whose fictional celestial alter ego occasionally has one enormous eye and a glowing collar.
His contribution to cosmic scholarship remains difficult to measure.
His contribution to the atmosphere is considerable.
The Journey Is Just Beginning β
We're building this Atlas one story, one question, and one discovery at a time.
There will be more chapters, more adventures, and undoubtedly more surprises.
You can see what's new, or send us your thoughtsβincluding anonymously.
But you don't need to understand the entire universe before enjoying the journey.
Choose a door.
Follow your curiosity.
And remember:
Explore the Universe. Ask the Questions. Experience and KEEP the Wonder.
